TOEFL iBT Test Announces Key Enhancements to Benefit Test Takers
In a bid to provide high-quality and secure English-language tests, TOEFL has announced significant enhancements to the TOEFL iBT test, aimed at better addressing test takers’ needs. This move comes as a part of TOEFL’s commitment to adapt to changing demands, much like their response during the pandemic with the TOEFL iBT Home Edition and previous enhancements such as MyBest scores and instant Reading and Listening scores.
Starting July 26, the TOEFL iBT test will see major changes that will result in a reduced completion time of under two hours. These changes include streamlined test instructions and navigation, removal of all unscored test questions, a new and modern TOEFL iBT writing task replacing the independent writing task, and a reduction in passages and associated questions within the Reading section.
Additionally, beginning in July, the registration process will become more customer-friendly, further improving the test taker experience. However, there will be no changes to the TOEFL iBT score scale as part of these enhancements.
Detailed information about these updates will be available on the TOEFL iBT website starting April 11. TOEFL will also share follow-up communications in the coming weeks to keep test takers and applicants informed about these improvements
